During the past year, i have learnt to understand or rather cherish the word "relationship" better than i was in the past. Not just those relationships with your loved ones but including the friends around you and even relationships with family! Life was bland and colourless for me until i learnt how to open up to people! And i have Roger to thank for all these!
Friends around you are really impt as they are just like different colours, adding fun, humour or even anger to our colourful lifestyles. During this past year or so, my social circle widened significantly and i can say i was much more happier than i was in the past. I began to understand that friends are important as they give you a lift when you are feeling down and they are the ones whom you can talk about anything under the sun. Every meeting brings something different and it allows you to understand your friends more.
One relationship i have neglected the most is with my family. I began to indulge in friends and seemingly take my family for granted. However a quote from a book i am reading now "Tuesday With Morrie" says " friends visit and take care of you when you are sick, but family members are the only ones whom can stay forever, provide love and take care of you". Thus i have actually tried to go out with them more often nowadays as they always say that i'm very anti-social towards them and treating friends better than them. I must say it helps that my family is very fun loving and likes to joke around very much. They really treat me very well because they never fail to turn me down whenever i ask them to fetch me home from work!
Not that i have experience it myself but friends around me got attached, broke up and being rejected were all the situations that i have seen. To me, i have my own views on love relationships. It seems to me that lasting relationships were a thing of the past and that nowadays its quite hard to see people being attached for more than 2 years! To me, a lasting relationship must experience different stages before the relationships turns bland. Different stages bring about different expectations for the future and would definitely lengthen the relationship. The different stages which i am talking about includes marriage and having children and these are something which you can expect or think about in the future as a couple. True enough that a lot of people tell me "you gain something from every failed relationship". But i just don't like the idea. I prefer to have a long lasting one.. A conservative thinking, a traditional person.. but then, it might just turn out to be the most successful one.
