There has always been this debate going on in Singapore, why do service personels always treat ang-mohs better. Before i joined the hotel, i always thought that i will not do the same thing. But now, i cant say the same thing. The thing is NOT that ang-mohs always give alot of tips compared to others but its their attitudes towards us - service personels. They always make it a point to greet us and it just makes our day actually. Even those friendly ang-mohs who dun give us any tips, i would be willing to serve and help them. They should understand that it is not ALL tips but sometimes attitudes that triggers out willingness to serve. Greet an asian, they will just give you a very fake smile and walk off.

Even so, i tink people in the service are too poorly paid as the govt already discourage tipping in Singapore yet the 10% service charge that they levy on customers doesnt get into our pockets but to the company! Come on, do with such low pay, where else does the govt expects us to look for the extra motivation to serve? Service standards have dropped severely over the past year and it is not easy or rather Singapore has to do a Mission Impossible 3 to reach the pinnacle.
